Mobile Landing Page – How is it Different from the Traditional Page?
The world has gone mobile. Between smartphones and tablets, a good portion of online customers are now accessing your website via their mobile devices which means it is critical your website is prepared to shift from the traditional desktop screen to a mobile device effectively. Here are the key differences to be aware of between these two media.
Size – Obviously the most important difference is going to be screen size. While desktop monitors seem to be getting bigger, especially in the workplace, mobile screens get smaller. Simply paring down the size of everything on your usual landing page will be useless.
Information – For a mobile device, you will need to trim your website down to only the most important information. Links should be even more obvious, unnecessary design elements should be stripped, and copy should be reduced to only the most essential information.
Speed – Mobile devices are notoriously slower than desktops or laptops, so ensure your mobile website is optimized to download on mobile device as fast as possible. There are apps, strategies, and other ways to speed up your download time that your designer will be able to help you with.
Options – Always be sure your online users have the option to view your traditional landing page on their mobile device if they choose to. In a case where a person is very used to your website, they may just prefer the traditional landing page to find what they are looking for.
